Wake Forest University is a private, coeducational university in the U.S. state of North Carolina, founded in 1834. The university received its name from its original location in Wake Forest, north of Raleigh, North Carolina, the state Capital.
With the donation of a single painting in 1944, the University's general collection was established. Today, the Collection has grown to includeover 270 artworks by art department faculty, regional artists and an increasing number of artists of international acclaim. These works are displayed in public and private areas throughout the campus.
