The Museum houses a permanent collection of over 3,000 works of 19 th and 20 th Century American Art, and hosts more than10 major exhibitions annually. The Museum hosts a variety of events, which include Family Days, lectures, concerts, fund-raising events, the Annual Members' Show and the New England Photography Biennial. Each year over 43,000 visit the Museum and more than 1,400 are Museum members.
Located on the second floor of the Museum, the Danforth Museum School offers more than 490 art classes to nearly 2,800 children and adults each year. K-12 students enjoy both after school and weekend programming, as well as school vacation and summer workshops. The Museum and Museum School are closely tied.
