Althorp has been home to the Spencer Family for nearly 500 years. In September 1997, the House became the focus of world attention following the tragic death of Diana Princess of Wales. Much of Althorp's charm derives from the sheer beauty of its setting. The house is set in 450 acres of idyllic park, much of which has remained unaltered over the centuries. The House contains a fascinating variety of furniture, ceramics as well as one of the finest collections of portraiture in the world.
