Impressionism is one of my favourite movements, and van Gogh is one of my favourite painters. Vivid colours can change the way you feel. These paintings radiate hapiness!
For example: Monet - Blue water lilies
The first critical reactions on impressionism, as happened usually with other artistical movements, were quite cold. Indeed, impressionism opened up a brand new world in contrast with the highly acclaimed and popular academism. At open air painting objects aquire beautiful new vibrant colors. The disfavour of the first period was soon over and now we count several impressionist, including Van Gogh, Monet, Manet and Renoir, among the largest figures in the painters pantheon.
