About the artist:
Painter, engraver, etcher of landscapes and mountain scenery in the realism and romanticism style. Training at the academy of Brussel led by Francois Bossuet and pupil of Marinus and Kuhnen. Was a physicist. He became in 1842 director at the drawing school in Dinant. Work in museum: Brussel, Elsene, Sint-Niklaas, Ieper (Stedelijk Museum).
