Uploaded artworks: 29Józef Tadeusz Makowski in years 1903-08 studied in Academy of Beautiful Arts in Cracow (at Jan Stanisławski, Józef Mehoffera and others). He on breakthrough 1908/1909 left to Paris where he stayed to end of life, where he met from of the time avant-garde artistic. In early painting works was faithful his teachers. He in Paris depicted initially under impression P. C. Puvis de Chavannes’ frescoes, and having got to know the group of cubists from Montparnasse, he underwent them the influence.
After explosion The I World’s War he left to Władysław Ślewiński, one's of his friend to Brittany (to which he came back several times), the row painted there the realistic paintings, mainly about subject matter landscape and generic ( the Fisherman from pipe, 1917). He spended also holidays several times in Auvergne in central France (Children's Band, 1922).
He in 1923 tied from international group of painters (M. Gromaire, P. Dubreil, J. Pascin) from which he put out in gallery Berthe Weill. Makowski began his own style, being recapitulation hitherto exist artistic experiences - cubism, Dutch painting, naive realism in secret H. Rousseau and Polish people's art. The heroes of Makowski’s paintings the children are mostly, represented as small figurines in pointed caps, showed in romantic, home scene (mainly country), theatrical, musical or masquerade. He depicted the compositions of crafts also (Shoemaker - Le Sabotier) and characterological grotesques (Miser).
He left over 600 oil - paintings, several thousand drawings, watercolours and prints. He was one of the most prominent Polish painters of XX age.
