About the artist:
Karpov was born in Orenburg, Russia in 1890. He studied at Kazan Art School 1905-11; Imperial ACADEMY OF ARTS 1911-17; Petrograd FREE ART-EDUCATION STUDIOS/ACADEMY OF ARTS 1921-22. Active in Orenburg 1917-23; Moscow and St. Petersburg/Petrograd/lLeningrad thereafter. Began exhibiting 1916. Member of AKhRR (Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia) from 1922
(founder member). Exhibited with Imperial ACADEMY OF ARTS; AKhRR 1923-29. Important shows include "ARTISTS OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION OVER FIFTEEN YEARS", Moscow, 1933 (posthumous).
He died in Moscow in 1930.
