Alexander Fisher was a painter,a designer, a silversmith and a teacher. He started as a painterbut then he found enameling much more interesting. He began to attend Louis Dalpayrats lectures on Limoge style at the Royal Collage of Art in London, than he moved to Paris to study enameling career. 1887 he returned to England and established his own studio. At that time he was inspired by the late pre-Raphaelite style in which he made jeweler and other objects. In 1890s he was recognized as great innovator in art enameling. Arts and Crafts Movement is an organisation Fisher was part of. Their main goal was to change the status of the applied arts to that of the fine arts.Besides being an artist he was a teacher as well. He taught at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London. His work was at the Royal Academy, the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society and many international exhibitions.
