About the artist:
Ólafur Elíasson was born in Copenhagen, in 1967 to Icelandic parents. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he works in Berlin and in Copenhagen.
His sculptural and installation works are deeply informed by culture, ecology, and the nature of human perception. His works are profoundly philosophical in their exploration of the relationship between subjective perception and natural phenomena.
As professor at Universität der Künste Berlin, Eliasson founded the Institut für Raumexperimente, which opened in April 2009.
