Cueco, Henry (born Uzerche on 19 October 1929) is an artist and writer French, best known for his paintings.Born of a Spanish father and French mother, Henri Cueco participates in 1952 at the Salon de la Jeune Peinture. Within this group, he developed a figurative painting, which participates in political involvement.
From 1962, he painted a series (rivers, bathrooms, adult games, men red) using the technical means of mass media: carved figures, flat areas of color, dots and stripes.Cueco Henry is one of the painters of the movement Figuration narrative, which developed in the mid-1960s.
He brought in his art critics and political engagement with some distancing humor.This commitment is also evident from 1972 in the Cooperative Malassis he founded, with Lucien Fleury, Jean-Claude Latil, Michael Parr, Gerard Weaver and Christian Zeimert.Cueco in this representational choice, perhaps one who has most questioned, in its way, the painting through several rounds:
From 1965 to 1975 The Games of Adult Men and The Red.
From 1972 to 1976, Dogs and The Claustras.
From 1977 to 1987, Grass / Landscape drawn mark a return to reason. From 1987 to 1990, Soils of Africa series inspired not by a travel narrative (I hate folklore), but from books on Africa.
More recently, he returned to painting on the grounds, landscapes and still lifes, like the spot of reality with which the confrontation becomes increasingly difficult: the painting is the experience of incompleteness and unresolved.He won the Prix Félix Fénéon Foundation, and the Prix du Salon de la Jeune Peinture.
It is with Patrick Besnier, Jacques Jouet, Hervé Le Tellier, Lucas Fournier, Gerard Mordillat and others, one of the "Papuan" the issue of France-Culture Papuans in the header, founded by Jerome Bertrand and moderated by Françoise Treussard. Long trade unionist, he is sometimes designer of theater and cultural leader. He teaches at the University of Paris VIII (Vincennes) and Paris I.
Since the 1980s, he wrote numerous essays and novels. His book Conversations with My Gardener was filmed in 2007 by Jean Becker. The main actors are Daniel Auteuil and Jean-Pierre Darroussin.
He is married to the visual artist Marinette Cueco.They live in the Paris region and in Correze (at Pouget de Vigeois).They have two children, the musician Pablo Cueco.
