About the artist:
Painter, draughtsman of portraits, interiors, characters, genrescenes, biblical scenes in the realism and romanticism style. Originally he painted scenes of civil life in the middle of the 18th century and later contemporary interiors. Training at the academies of Ieper with Böhm, in Antwerpen and in Paris headed by Fauvelet. Was teacher in 1873 and from 1891 to 1899 director at the academy in Ieper. Was good friends with Louise De Hem. Work in museum Ieper, Poperinge.
