Henry Bond is a writer and photographer. He was born in Newham, East London, England. He lives and works in London. Bond graduated from Goldsmiths, Department of Art, in 1988. He attended Middlesex University as a postgraduate, obtaining an MA in Psychoanalysis. His doctoral research was completed at University of Gloucestershire, in 2007. He currently is an Associate Lecturer in Fine Art at Camberwell College of Arts in London.
Henry Bond’s photographs follow the gaze of an aimless wanderer through the streets of London. Shopping temples, night clubs, dance floors, and a parade of fashion labels appear as if by chance in these pictures, often in soft focus or viewed from unusual perspectives. Using a telephoto lens, he captures indiscreet paparazzi-style images. Photos of shoes allude to commercial and fashion photography. Grainy images look much like those taken by street-corner surveillance cameras.
