Charles Bell was born in Tulsa in 1935 and studied at the University of Oklahoma. He was an American Photorealist.
The colors of Bell’s work are the clearest and most vibrant that can be achieved in oil paint. Nostalgia describes a major aspect of this. Bell’s work was distinguished by the fact that the subject matter is depicted in a scale as much as ten times life size. They was created in his New York loft studio on West Broadway just south of Canal Street, is noted not only for the glass-like surface of his works, done largely in oil, but also for their significant scale. Charles Bell’s uncommon efforts to ensure the durability of finished canvases and paint surfaces. A carnival of colorful, strangely anxiety-inducing oils, watercolors, pastels and pencil sketches.
Charles Bell died in New York in 1995.
